Meet the Blacksmith
I’ve always been fascinated by the magic of the forge and the abilities of the blacksmith. As a child I loved the stories of epic heroes, the humble blacksmith was often the unknown hero or essential character of these stories. By achieving mastery of their craft they progressed the heroes’ journey or in some cases became the hero themselves.
I attended the Hereford College of Arts for my degree in Artist Blacksmithing BA in 2019. Working alongside Master Blacksmith Adrian Legge on the weekends and attending college in the week before graduation. I was fortunate to have continued working alongside Adrian as a friend and colleague.
I have been lucky to work on many fun and varied projects over the years, from Heritage conservation work to modern contempory public art and all things in between. From gates and railings to bespoke swords.
I have been involved with several blacksmithing organisations as its very important to me to give back to the communities around me. Having sat on the council of BABA (British Artist Blacksmith Association) and currently serving a term as the vice chairman of the NHIG (National Heritage Ironwork Group).
This year my focus has been directed toward the wonderful world of HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts). While i was involved in the sport 10 or so years ago i was happy to rediscover the bug this year and get involved with a fantastic club, The Academy of Steel.
The forge is based in Bromyard, Herefordshire. We run short classes covering a range of subjects from skill building days to aid the hobby smith to intensive sword classes. I mainly work to commission and order so if you have something youd like forged or would like to come and help forge it yourself then get in touch now.
